Energy Analysis and Policy (EAP)

The Fitzgerald Asset Management team collaborated with UW – Madison’s EAP program through their student capstone project. The thickness of publicly owned utility zero carbon pledges was evaluated. The student team and their distinguished advisor probed this question in depth and made some interesting discoveries. Along the way creative analysis techniques were developed.

Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies

The Nelson Institute is world famous for many things, not the least being the founding of Earth Day in 1970.

In his role as Emeritus Advisory Board member (former chair), John Nelson regularly engages with the institute on a variety of topics. These are regularly used to inform FAM.

John Nelson collaborates with WRM on inland lake water quality, seeking to preserve and restore the trophic state of Big Green Lake in Wisconsin. This informs Fitzgerald Asset Management on habitat preservation and restoration.

In his role as Professor of Practice, John Nelson has helped develop, teach and refine a case study based upper-class and graduate course, employing thickness as a fundamental criteria.

John Nelson

In addition to Chief Technical Officer at Fitzgerald Asset Management, Mr. Nelson is an adjunct professor at the UW-Madison College of Engineering. His duties include teaching, research, advising, and mentoring students.
